halfway around the world... and back

JG and i were at Japan Centre picking up sushi last Sunday, when he asked me if i wanted a drink. and when i scanned the rows of refrigerated drinks, a familiar product caught my eye.

amused by memories of ít being von t's fave drink and how she used to travel from woodlands to bishan just to pick it up, i decided that it was gonna be my drink, despite it being slightly steep at nearly 2 pounds for 200ml.

it was only after finishing the drink that i actually read the label in detail, and what i read made me feel slightly silly.

'Afternoon tea has been drunk by the English ever since the custom was started by the Duchess of Bedford in the mid 19th century'

does that mean i paid for shipping and import taxes on a Japanese product that originated in England? i should have just made myself a pot of Twinings tea at home. darn.
