low on love

Rain down my heart is dry but still I'm singing
Feels like it's time, to dream again
Give me strength to cross the water
Keep my heart upon Your altar
Keep my feet don’t let me falter
- excerpts from 'Rain Down' by Delirious

it might have happened to you before...
you feel tired and drowsy. you want to wind down for the day and prepare for bed. and suddenly this msn window pops up on your screen. with a friend who needs to vent and is looking for someone to talk to. and u're thinking 'i'm tired enough. i don't want to listen to your problems too.'

well... J was just thinking that exact same mean, selfish thought. my fren was just telling me about the problems she's encountering in her career. and all i could think of was how tired i was. then i took a step back and thought 'wait... is this how i should be treating a friend? when she really needs a listening ear?' that's when the above mentioned song came on. as the song played and i felt God's touch once again, i began to really feel for my friend. the selfish thoughts that were filling my mind began to fade. her situation started to to strike a chord in me.

now, this fren has since gone off to bed. and though i haven't done a thing to ease her situation, she said something that made me glad i wasn't looking to myself in an effort to show love when a much deeper and infinite source of love was just within reach. she thanked me for listening and said she feels happy just having someone to talk to. i'm glad i was able to be that someone...

this might sound preachy to you. but there's nothing like refuelling on His love to keep your heart running smoothly again. after all, aren't we called to 'love, because He first loved us' (1 John 4:19) it's not about loving others based on your own efforts; but rather, being a mirror and reflecting the love of Christ.

meanwhile, J recommends a great online Christian radio station that you might like to check out.

Hey Jeanette, realised something... haha! You are always writing in the 3rd person. Do you talk like that in real life? :P
