I Know Who Holds Tomorrow
I don't know about tomorrow,
I just live from day to day.
I don't borrow from its sunshine,
For its skies may turn to gray.
I don't worry o'er the future,
For I know what Jesus said,
And today I'll walk beside Him,
For He knows what is ahead.
Refrain:
Many things about tomorrow,
I don't seem to understand;
But I know Who holds tomorrow,
And I know Who holds my hand.
I don't know about tomorrow,
It may bring me poverty;
But the One Who feeds the sparrow,
Is the One Who stands by me.
And the path that be my portion,
May be through the flame or flood,
But His presence goes before me,
And I'm covered with His blood.
Refrain:
Many things about tomorrow,
I don't seem to understand;
But I know Who holds tomorrow,
And I know Who holds my hand.
this hymn sung in church today has been playing in my mind the entire day. and it's particularly poignant to me. i don't think i've heard this hymn before. but i've heard the line 'I know Who holds tmw, and I know Who holds my hand' and the notion never fails to warm my heart.
perhaps coz i'm the sort of person who has no specific goal in life. i live one day at a time and i try to get along as best as i can. there's the vague notion of myself being a typical yuppie at the age of 30+, possessing a car, perhaps my own apartment and having enough disposable income to live comfortably. but no specifics.
right now i'm still trying to figure out how long i can hang on in my current line. and i sincerely hope i'll be able to cultivate an avid interest in what i do. perhaps that will come when i understand the field better.
but right now... i'm glad there's Someone i can trust in to take care of my future. Someone who already knows what's gonna take place. Someone who can tell me 'J, i've looked into your future. and it's all good. I've taken care of everything'. thank You, Jesus.
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. (Matthew 6:34)
p.s. apparently there's a similar version sung by LeAnn Rimes. if you have either, pls send it my way. thanks!
