una pelicula muy triste
Mar Adentro
faith was asking for a review. but i'm no good with reviewing movies. all i can give are my thoughts...
a riveting movie that narrates the struggle of a quadriplegic, ramon sempedro, to gain legal consent to 'die with dignity' aka euthanasia. it brings to mind how much we take the simple things in life for granted.
being unable to feel the touch of loved ones as they hold your hand, put their arms around you and give you hugs. receiving a loving touch is probably one of life's simplest pleasures.
and when you're unable to do anything, all you have is your mind and thoughts. you can't run away by distracting yourself with other tasks. all you can do is lie there and think... fantasise...
yet, don't mistake it to be a depressing movie because ramon's wicked humor conjures some laughs into this otherwise sombre storyline.
i would say, try your best to catch it before it ends its run. any movie that causes J to shed tears is worth the effort! heh. esp those who know a smattering of spanish. there's an inexplicable thrill that comes with being able to pick out little phrases and words.
