dia de san valentin

to answer various enquiries as to why i've been pretty absent online lately, i have to say that the past four days leading up to vday were spent slaving in the kitchen making cookies for squad and smu pals. u guys with the nice blue bundles had better appreciate them! unfortunately they wouldn't turn brown no matter wat. albino cookies i call them. wl and selvi liked them. BLest friend said they were only mas o menos (so-so), and i'm still waiting for faith's review and feedback from the rest.

vdae was spent at S4H salon with faith and ernie, who insisted on tagging along. heh. was desperately trying to shake that girl off after strat class, but no, that girl was determined not to be abandoned. she hunted me down by calling mj and selvi! unfortunately, mj gave my whereabouts away. sigh!

faith and i finally decided that today was the day to get our haircut. was a pretty monumental decision for us. one we've been taking mths to settle on. and yes, we finally did it! hahah. with hilarious results too.

my hairstylist turned out to be this beng who insisted on making small talk. now look here, J doesn't enjoy small talk and even more so when it's conducted in mandarin! so there he was talking away, with me and faith trying to interject with comments to seem interested. but i got stumped for a response when he asked why we weren't out on vdae and if we wanna go to his house for dinner. i pretty much gave up when he said he was feeling hungry and i nicely asked if he's had lunch. to which he replied 'why? u wanna treat me issit? i like eating meat' now what am i supposed to say to that? my first thought was 'hey, i like eating meat too' but it seemed so weird to voice out. not to mention the 'funny' joke abt how it was 'worth it' to get my hair cut coz it was so thick and everyone pays the same price regardless of thickness. grr!

i liked the shampoo boy alot better. thought he seemed kinda grouchy, faith said i amused him quite a bit. apparently it was my 'how to dream when u sleep so little?' comment to ernie, when she was trying to tell us abt her dream, that did it. and then there was the 'so ticklish!' outburst followed by loud hearty laughter when he was massaging my neck in the process of shampooing. now the shampoo boy knows my sensitive spot *blush*

faith got one of the seniors to cut her hair. her hairstylist was way pretty with a no nonsense attitude to boot. we were wondering if she was the manager. loved her slinky top that fit her like a glove. faith's haircut turned out great! impressed with the way her soft curls fall nicely around her shoulders and the shortened fringe framing her face. the haircut looks great! u guys have to check it out!

after abt 2 hrs in the salon, decided to go for dinner at din tai fung. been wanting to try the place out. we were ushered straight in despite the queue outside; the beauty of having an odd numbered party on vday. heh. we ordered the famous xiao long bao, shrimp and meat dumpling, dan dan mian, zha jiang mian, yam buns and got a tier of multi-layered cake, compliments of using the UOB card. the food was pretty good. faith and i educated ernie on the finer points of xiao long bao, i.e. how the skin should be thick enough to hold the soup, yet be as thin as possible and how they all have exactly 18 folds.

halfway through the meal, we spotted selvi and her fren, rosa, walking thru the place and everyone got excited and high pitched. there we were screaming 'selvi! selvi!' but she didn't hear us. ernie whipped out her phone to call her, it took us a few secs to realise that selvi had told us her phone was dead. in the end, we had to go get her. we let her go after a few threats abt how we were stalking her though.

after dinner activity consisted of doing a bit of browsing in espirit, where we reached the other conclusion that vday was a great day to go shopping, the shop was pretty empty. guess all the couples were busy pak tor-ing.

i'm glad i enjoyed my vdae. no doubt there were a few pangs when i saw girls walking ard with bouquets of flowers. but i honestly feel that vday is much better shared with a group of close friends surrounded by the warm happy glow of talk and laughter. to me, vday for couples is way too commercialised and puts unnecessary pressure on the couple, esp the guy, what with the emphasis on flowers and various romantic gestures. but when spent with friends, no expectations exist, everyone's just out to enjoy each other's company and have fun.

lengthy blog today, i apologise.

would u believe it, if there's absolute no sarcasm inside?

So truthful confession is misinterpreted as sarcasm?

What does BLest really mean, can someone tell me?
*boohoo*

I must say the cookies were good. They are 'sellable'. Make some money out of them.
