artists and the like
was watching part of this art house show on the artist goya. my older sis was watching it and i was only drawn to the show coz i recognised smatterings of spanish here and there. so i sat down and tried to see how many words i could recognise. not enough to understand the show i'm afraid. oh well...
anyway, does it seem like artists tend to have some form of mental illness? it seems to be that you can't be a famous artist without having a tinge of manic depression in you. somehow, the darker paintings draw people to them. it appeals to the more sombre side of us all. bright, cheery paintings often bring along connotations of frivolousness and silliness.
i think artists are a pretty interesting breed of people, as are musicians and actors, people who devote their lives to their passion. i wonder how it feels like to get so caught up in what you're doing that you lose track of all your surroundings. you forget about the people around you, the sounds that surround and the time ticking away. all that matters is how your particular work is coming about. all you're concerned with is making it perfect (in your eyes at least).
i think i need a passion.
