another lifetime away
haven't really blogged about the grad trip we took in June, partially coz it all seemed like a dream. another lifetime away... and yet, certain situations trigger flashbacks so vivid, it's almost as if i was back there.
was with wl buying food at the Tangs food basement today when i stopped at the Bravarissimo gelato counter. now, gelato is a word that's very near and dear to J's heart. 10 consecutive days of eating gelato in Italy, and it's not just one scoop a day, has left an indelible mark. despite the numerous times we indulged in the sweet treat, one particular instance stands out.
that first cold, drizzly evening in Venice
the obscure gelato shop hidden in a dark corner
those 2 scoops of flavoured ice
the chilly wind in our faces
my nose turning numb
the cold weather topped off with the cold dessert
resulting in a memory that lingers...

The lightened up faces when a gelato sign is visible, the peering into the window to memorise names of flavours, the difficult task of deciding what final two scoops we are having. I miss it too.

I miss seeing shyn in tat attire and you and Chucky/Chunky/Chicky with that bag that's left with an indelible mark from her Gelato!
