first day at work

found out that i got posted to the team that specialises in IPOs. we were forewarned that there'd be biz trips to China. in fact two of my peers are gonna be flying down to beijing on sunday.

was telling wl and cranberry about it. and they were both very optimistic about the post i've been assigned. it's great to have such supportive friends.

but i'm oscillating between apprehension and excitement. i know there's gonna be a steep learning curve ahead. for one, there prob won't be past yr papers to refer to, my audit knowledge would have to be really solid. and i'll have to be frantically re-learning all my chinese terms and picking up business chinese in the process. also worried i'll get homesick while having to spend about a mth overseas at a go.

yet, the thought of being able to travel somemore is pretty fascinating. i'm gonna view it as a learning opportunity. it's another go at learning more about myself while adapting to a new environment. a chance to learn to be more independent, and gain more confidence in the process. also, the team appears to be very close-knit; an attribute i appreciate coz i felt a little lost being shuffled among the numerous colleagues during the internship. i enjoy feeling like i belong somewhere.

and i thought audit was exciting enough; changing locations and meeting different clients almost every wk. well... i guess there's more in store. and i pray that He'll be there every step of the way, enabling me to face and meet the challenges ahead.

p.s. and hey, lunch at chongqing hotpot was pretty good. heh.

you lucky girl, you'll be fine! if it's not challenging, you won't be bettering yourself and reaching new heights. Hehe, and you learn mandarin in the process - what can be better. (Of course, the bit about I bringing you around in beijing would definitely be, hehe)

Ya lor!
Oh, and must also thank us for improving your Chinese in Europe. Who would have guessed tat you would speak more Chinese than English in Europe?

Its challenging, and certainly more exciting than *yawns* mere auditing. Jia you!

Oh well, at the very least, you're not gonna be staying in some cheap run-down hostel, wherever you're stationed...
