and today, J indulged, and had 2 dinners with some of her favouritest persons in the world. heh.
Part 1 - NYDC @ Heeren
met up with von t, von w and elaine. actually i just sat there while the rest dug into their baked rice/ pasta. was saving my tummy for later. couldn't resist stealing a bit of their food though. dinner started with the usual jokes and catching up. but everything got really exciting when someone's secret slipped out. it's really big i'm telling ya!
the rest of the squad: we know something you don't!! heh. if u wanna find out, join us on our next outing. (see lah, we have to resort to bribing u guys.) anyway, we made plans for a sleepover, usual place on vesak day. email coming up. looking forward to more secret sharing. heh.
esp my b1. i miss u lots and lots!!
Part 2 - Pasta Fresca, Shaw Centre
dinner with ec went great! the two of us tend to do stuff in extremes when we get together. despite the fact that both of us claimed we weren't hungry and decided to split a pasta, we both ended up polishing off a dish of creamy pasta and dessert by ourselves.
ok fine, i finished the whole plate of pasta, ec had 1/4 left. i'm such a glutton!
i ordered an al salmone with fettucine as choice of pasta, due to my recent craving for smoked salmon. while ec had the maccheroni con pollo asperaghi e funghi. was slightly disappointed when my dish came. it just looked bleah, kinda orangy and weird... to be fair, it was just the fishy taste permeating the pasta that turned me off. the smoked salmon was good, albeit being cooked by the time it got to me. i loved the smokey flavour. the pasta was good. dense with a good bite to it. slightly chewy. al dente perfection, if u ask me.
dessert was great! the panna cotta i ordered was really smooth, thick and creamy. loved the milky taste. i had to stuff it in, despite my tummy protesting. ec's tiramisu was pretty good too. but i was too engrossed in my panna cotta. heh.
and here's the other side of the story, in ec's own words:
'the pasta was done al dente, with an interesting mix of texture from the chicken, mushrooms n asparagus. sauce was a little heavy for personal liking. generally a pretty well done dish, with portions good enough to share between 2. i would give it 3 out of 5 stars. [however] i think the service was lousy...'

we left the place stuffed to the gills. my tummy was threatening to burst, judging from the balloon state it had swelled up to. we kept rubbing our tummies and complaining about feeling nauseous. as usual, we swore not to overeat again.
all in all, a pretty good nite. the combination of good frens, good food, laughter, talk was fantastic. add the little squad secret *winkz*, and it came pretty close to perfection. heh.

Hor, someone went to make reservations at Al Dente and din turn up. Tsk tsk. Blacklisted!
i cancelled reservations k! very civic minded one. heh. my fren was so touched that i actually bothered to make reservations. too bad we ended up going elsewhere.
