nothing says it like an oldie

went for the yellow ribbon concert just now. free tixs, courtesy of von w. the only drawback was that we had to dress smart casual. otherwise it was pretty good. there were performances by tension, BAD, anson hu, tay ping hui, etc. was pretty surprised to find that tay ping hui can actually sing and that he actually composes songs. heh, and he does bring to mind someone whom i know.

anyways, the theme song for the event is 'tie a yellow ribbon around the old oak tree' (lyrics below) tension did an acapella version of it. whoa! now it's stuck on my mind. yeah... if that version of it is on the yellow ribbon cd that they'll selling, i think i'll get it. anyways, love their accents man. there's something intriguing abt a chinese boy band being able to speak english exceptionally well, with an american accent to boot! hahah, yeah i have a soft spot for ABCs.

i realise i do like oldies. nothing says it better than an oldie man. they tend to have catchy tunes and the lyrics are usually very simple and straightforward. anyone has any oldies to recommend?

Tie a Yellow Ribbon Around the Old Oak Tree

I'm coming home I've done my time
And I have to know what is or isn't mine
If you received my letter
Telling you I'd soon be free
Then you'd know just what to do
If you still want me
If you still want me

Chorus:
Oh tie a yellow ribbon
'Round the old oak tree
It's been three long years
Do you still want me
If I don't see a yellow ribbon
'Round the old oak tree
I'll stay on the bus, forget about us
Put the blame on me
If I don't see a yellow ribbon
'Round the old oak tree

Bus driver please look for me
'Cause I couldn't bare to see what I might see
I'm really still in prison
And my love she holds the key
A simple yellow ribbon's all I need to set me free
I wrote and told her please

(Chorus)

Now the whole damn bus is cheering
And I can't believe I see
A hundred yellow ribbons
'Round the old, the old oak tree

Tie a ribbon 'round the old oak tree (x4)
